Visual Coordination-What is it? It's ReDesign!

While visiting Kansas City, Carole Talbott (third from left), met with former students Pat Woodworth, Kim Mawhiney and Jerry Ballard.

Pat, Kim and Jerry in 1997 introduced Kansas City to redesign the fastest growing area of interior design.  In today's world, our clients are spending more time in their homes with family.  They have new attitudes spiritually and economically and are concentrating on the simple joys of family and home.  Seeking to add beauty and comfort to their surroundings without extravagance, lead many clients to use redesigners.  These three redesigners transform houses into homes using existing pieces and placing them "correctly!"  The results are amazing and what's more, they're guaranteed.

Visual Coordination is the technique that One Day ReDecorating uses to create a new look in an old space!  It was developed by Carole Talbott who pioneered the field of using 'what you have' decorating, long before it became a recognized design field.

As Carole puts it, "Visual Coordination is the only design technique in the world based on an absolute scientific formula...that never fails.  It is the placement that unifies the contents and the structure.  All interior pieces placed within an architectural space become an extension of the structure.  Using  the specific guidelines, anyone can have a balanced and beautiful home.  The secret to the formula is the precise alignment of the interior pieces with the architectural features and shapes...a marriage that, until now, never lasted.  So naturally, furnishings, accessories and art must follow architectural lines in order to be a successful part of the whole."

We accomplish the transformation by stripping  a room of its contents and starting over... aligning the pieces correctly!  We layer in the smaller pieces, lighting, artwork and finally accessories.  We shop the home for furnishings and accessories that can work in the newly designed space.  If the space is in need of something else (which doesn't happen often), this technique helps define the size, shape and theme of additional purchases!  Thus expensive shopping errors are avoided!

This is an amazing process that works in every space no matter the size or style!  Even the most beautiful pieces can be diminished by poor placement. We like to say that it doesn't matter if you are hanging a Picasso or a poster, what matters is that you place it correctly!  Now anyone can have a beautiful home!
